How We Work

How We Work

Like 90% of LGBTQI+ voluntary organisations, Regard is run by its members for its members and has no office or paid staff. We communicate with our members through Regard Online, an online group for news, notice of events and discussion. If you would like me to add you to this group, please let me know by emailing secretary@regard.org.uk . We hold occasional social events such as cabarets, general meetings and AGMs. Because of the continuing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, these are for the present time online only.

Day to day control of Regard is in the hands of four Officers and the wider Executive Committee (EC). They are all members of Regard either elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) or co-opted onto the EC directly. The EC mostly works online and members keep each other regularly updated with what they are doing

We invite members to apply to secretary@regard.org.uk to join us on the EC, taking responsibility for developing Regard’s work in a particular role! At the moment we are looking for people to take on work in areas such as HIV, with visual and hearing impaired people and organisations, with older people and under-25s and their organisations etc. Wherever possible we ask that the member ‘identifies’ with that role or community (so an older person should fill the role of developing our work with Older people’s organisations, etc). All contacts with members of the EC should be made by email to secretary@regard.org.uk

We fully recognise that members are volunteers and are doing this in their spare time and after allowing for the effects of their respective impairments. Where it can assist Regard’s work, job shares are ok.

At present the members of the EC are:
